Gateway Anabaptist Church is dedicated to teaching the Bible in sound doctrine, spreading God's word (KJV 1611), and providing information about how the political and moral status of our country could affect us as Christians. Gateway Anabaptist Church has established the Michigan Bible Institute (see info under "Ministries" on this website) to train people to either become pastors and/or preachers, or to better equip them at witnessing to others. We firmly believe in discipleship of others. After all, is this not what Jesus Himself did? It is one thing to teach words out of a book, yet it is much better to train others by being an example to them in how to walk with Christ in our daily lives. We also believe that every member’s a minister. This idea of there being clergy and laity is not biblical. As a matter of fact, this is the doctrine of the Nicolaitans that John told us that God hated in Rev. 2:6,15. All born again beievers in Christ are priests and kings (Rev. 1:6). Of course when we say this, we do not mean that every member is a pastor. There are qualifications given in the scriptures for this, yet each member is a minister of God and no less important a member of the body than any other part. Every member has a ministry and a certain purpose as a member of Christ's Body.
Our interest in the status of this country grows from a concern for protecting ourselves from a wide range of possible dangers to Christians. One important example of such a danger is excessive governmental control over churches through their 501c3 non-profit tax status. Gateway Anabaptist Church is not a state-licensed church, but has the Lord Jesus Christ as its head, and not the government. The bible clearly states that the church is an organism (a living Body), not an organization or social club consisting of saved and lost members. The church is the Body of Christ whose members are made up of born-again believers. The church is not a building on the corner that anyone can join just as long as he or she pays their weekly dues, oops, I mean tithes. For more information please contact us and we’d be happy to send you some free literature on this matter.
One of the main reasons that we want to protect ourselves from these dangers is that we want to continue our mission to obey God's command-- "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." We want to continue to preach on the streets, to support churches and missionaries abroad, and to build new Bible believing churches where needed. By the grace of God, we will do these things whether it remains legal to do so or not. We ought to obey God rather then men (Acts 5:29).
"For a great day, the Bible way, getaway to Gateway!"
